Magnetic soft materials show promise as they can be handled and activated without physical contact, which makes them ideal for untethered operations. They provide human-safe, contactless actuation in confined spaces suited for tangible interaction contexts like shape-changing interfaces and interactive surfaces. Shape-changing interfaces have diverse applications focused on simulating static or interactive objects.
This project presents a library of primitive structures that showcase the potential deformations designers can employ when using this material. It makes the fabrication process more accessible and offers a hands-on method for experiencing the material's shape-change properties.
